The Bournemouth University graduate and social media influencer has won two major national awards for her YouTube and creative online content.
The Girl On A Bike, also known as Vanessa Ruck, a 35-year-old rising star in the motorcycle world.
Vanessa won the title against social media giants like travel blogger Itchy Boots.
She said she was utterly speechless to have won.
Nominated and first place in two categories Vanessa is in full swing.
She is the winner of the Best Social Media Channel and Most Inspirational Rider Gongs.
Vanessa’s story is one of real resilience and absolute determination, so it’s no surprise to her followers that she won.
She describes herself as a perfectly normal girl who grew up in Kent and faced one of the big curves in life.
After Vanessa was hit by a car while cycling in 2014, the world was turned upside down, resulting in 7 surgeries and a roller coaster of mental and physical recovery over 7 years.
During her recovery, she discovered motorcycles and became known as “The Girl On A Bike”.
As a motorcyclist and racing driver, Vanessa speaks passionately and authentically about the challenges of recovering from a life-changing accident and making the most of every day despite chronic pain. “Motorcycles that I started with after an accident have become my love and passion.
“If you had asked me 7 years ago if I drove off-road motorcycles and gave motivational speeches, I would probably have choked on my drink! But life takes us on some amazing journeys.
“People can relate to my story because everyone is going through bad times. We all have fights, some less visible than others, but with a positive attitude, determination, and a smile these fights can be a little easier.
“Hopefully I will inspire others to show that if I can recover after 7 operations and move on, others can get through their difficult times.”
Vanessa spends her time sharing all elements of life, mostly related to motorcycles, and also does charity work by offering free workshops for British teenagers.
She uses her recovery to engage young minds and talks about resilience, goal setting and dealing with the pressures of life.
Given that Motorcycle TV’s Peoples Awards received a record 100,000 votes, it’s clear to say that Vanessa is an inspiration to women and men alike.
