Motorcycle sales 2021 Australia<\/h3>\n

According to the latest FCAI figures, a total of 123,530 motorcycles and OHVs were sold in Australia in 2021. This corresponds to an increase of 13.4 percent compared to 2020.<\/p>\n

According to MCNews.com.au, Honda leads the overall market ahead of Yamaha and Kawasaki.<\/p>\n

With 53,118 units sold in 2021, off-road motorcycles made up 43 percent of total sales. That is 18.8 percent more than in 2020.<\/p>\n

The two best-selling off-road bikes were both Honda children’s bikes, with the CRF110F convincingly ahead of the CRF50F.<\/p>\n

Honda also shifted most of the motorcycles overall to the off-road category, ahead of Yamaha, Kawasaki, KTM and Suzuki.<\/p>\n

When it came to the bigger motorcycles in the Enduro category, it was Yamaha’s WR450F ahead of a quartet of KTM enduro motorcycles, led by the 300cc two-stroke models of the 350 EXC-F, 500 EXC-F and 450 EXC-F .<\/p>\n

Yamaha also takes first place in the motocross category with the YZ250F, ahead of Honda’s CRF450R and CRF250R.<\/p>\n

Street bikes were the second most popular segment with 37,270 units sold. This corresponds to an increase of 6.8 percent compared to 2020 and accounts for 30.17 percent of all units sold in 2021.<\/p>\n

Harley-Davidsons Breakout is Australia’s top selling road bike outside of the NBC110 Honda used by the Australia Post. It was Honda who led the road bike category overall, but ahead of Harley-Davidson, Yamaha and Kawasaki.<\/p>\n

Honda’s CMX500 continues to be a big winner, missing top spot in the cruiser category by just a handful of units over Harley’s Breakout<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

Honda’s legal CMX500 cruiser was the second most popular road bike ahead of Yamaha’s MT-07L and Suzuki’s DR650. That means, of course, that the DR650 leads the adventure touring category, and by a narrow margin.<\/p>\n

Suzuki’s DR650 continues to win the hearts, minds and wallets of Australian riders and was the best-selling adventure touring bike of 2021<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

The OHV market segment recorded a growth of 13.9 percent compared to the figures for 2020. This corresponds to a total of 28,321 units sold, which corresponds to 22.92 percent of the total market. The Polaris Ranger 1000 led the side-by-side market while the best-selling ATV was Honda’s TRX520FM. However, Yamaha led the category overall, ahead of Honda and Polaris.<\/p>\n

With 4,821 new vehicles sold, scooters account for the smallest market share. This represents 3.90 percent of the total market and represents an 8.1 percent increase over 2020 sales. Honda’s NSC110 was Australia’s best-selling scooter and Honda was the clear leader when it came to scooter sales.<\/p>\n

    Unfortunately, these are the only numbers we now get from the official sales audit. Historically, we would be able to see performance by make by make and model by model, but the FCAI-focused brands are now holding their cards tightly and refusing to release detailed data, which is why they have been doing the lately regular detailed motorcycle sales have not seen model segment and model analysis that we generally bring to you every quarter on MCNews.com.au. New Zealand has a transparent mechanism with public reporting of registration data on a monthly basis, but it’s all a bit of a secret squirrel here. <\/span><\/p>\n

    It should be noted that some brands are not represented in the official audit figures related to motorcycle sales. Their reluctance to share their numbers with the auditor and be part of the FCAI seems to be what has triggered the FCAI brands to now publish very limited data and apparently not to disclose market information for the brands that are not aligned with the FCAI are.<\/p>\n

    Urban Moto Imports group brands such as Royal Enfield, Benelli, MV Agusta, Segway and Rieju are not included in the FCAI exam.<\/p>\n

    Likewise, CFMOTO, Kymco, Sherco and Landboss, which are managed by Mojo Motorcycles, are not included in the sales figures as these companies are not members of the Federal Chamber of the Automotive Industry.<\/p>\n
