An uninsured and unauthorized motorcyclist was caught by the police after colliding head-on with a motorcyclist on a residential street.<\/p>\n

Craig Watson, 33 years old, was driving down Skegby Road in Kirkby-in-Ashfield when the collision occurred on the evening of Sunday 19 July 2020.<\/p>\n

Watson, who broke an ankle in the accident, had previously ridden up and down the street on his Suzuki off-road motorcycle.<\/p>\n

The crash occurred when he was approaching the other motorcycle head-on and evaded too late to avoid a collision.<\/p>\n

He later admitted to police that he was not licensed to ride a motorcycle and had no insurance.<\/p>\n

Watson of Thorneywood Avenue, Kirkby-in-Ashfield, later pleaded guilty to driving without care and attention, without insurance, and without a license.<\/p>\n

When he appeared before Nottingham Crown Court on Tuesday, he was sentenced to a fine of \u00a3 1,000 plus eight penalty points. He was also sentenced to pay a cost of \u00a3 85 plus an additional \u00a3 100 sacrificial surcharge.<\/p>\n

Nottinghamshire Police Department PC Joel Hughes said: \u201cWatson was fully aware that he had no right to ride this bike on the road, but he did – and used it in ways that put other road users at risk.<\/p>\n

\u201cPeople who illegally drive off-road motorcycles on our streets cause considerable noise nuisance for local residents and put themselves in danger.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe will not tolerate such behavior and will continue our efforts to punish people who ride bikes where they shouldn’t.
