Return from a fun off-road afternoon on the Ultimate motorcycling<\/em> Yamaha T\u00e9n\u00e9r\u00e9 700 Project Bike<\/a>, I got a thumbs up from several cage drivers driving by in slow and moving highway traffic. After the second thumbs up, I realized why they were communicating approval. I just installed that Brake-free light<\/a>\u2014A wireless, intelligent LED brake light unit on the back of mine Klim Krios carbon adventure helmet<\/a>. They tell me they like it. It’s just so obvious and unique – a brake light that is way taller than motorcycle brake lights and just as bright.<\/p>\n Installation is quick and easy, although Break Free insists that you follow the quick start instructions. Break Free places a card on the box – the width of the box – on which it says: \u201cPlease read the quick start guide! Seriously, read the quick start guide … “<\/p>\n An easy-to-understand installation video is available on the Break Free website that details the test assembly, alignment, cleaning and assembly of the adhesive mount. The instructions emphasize that after sticking on the bracket, you must wait at least two hours before the Brake Free Light unit actually engages. This delay has to do with allowing time for the 3M adhesive to adhere securely to your helmet.<\/p>\n As soon as the Brake Free Light unit is engaged, it can be lifted off the bracket with a forceful upward movement. I got the Extra Helmet Mounts Pack ($ 13) which includes two mounts – one for my modular helmet and the other for my wife’s helmet. When she’s my passenger, we stow her on her helmet for rear visibility – I don’t think that would blind her if the two of her were attached to my helmet.<\/p>\n A decisive feature of additional brake lights is sufficient daylight. The photos I took of the Insta360 One X2<\/a> Camera that I mounted on the back Tenere 700<\/a> show that they are just as bright as the factory LED brake lights.<\/p>\n When I watched the video of driving through town on the way to the freeway, the Brake Free Light came on every time I activated my standard brake light. I prefer stealth mode because it has the strongest visual impact and instantly transitions from almost nothing to a full-intensity circular pattern. In normal mode, all LEDs light up with low intensity and they go to high intensity when braking. The flashing mode works like an emergency turn signal. Emergency flashing mode is important when you are helping someone on the side of the road and instructing vehicles that are passing by to be careful.<\/p>\n<\/a><\/p>\n<\/a><\/p>\n<\/a><\/p>\n<\/a><\/p>\n
