After Vanessa was hit by a car while cycling in 2014, the world was turned upside down, resulting in seven surgeries and a roller coaster of mental and physical recovery over 7 years. During her recovery, she discovered motorcycles and became known as “The Girl On A Bike”.<\/p>\n
As a motorcyclist and racing driver, Vanessa speaks passionately and authentically about the challenges of recovering from a life-changing accident and making the most of every day despite chronic pain. Vanessa said: \u201cMotorcycles that I started with after an accident have become my love and passion. If you’d asked me seven years ago if I ride off-road motorcycles and give motivational speeches, I would probably have choked on my drink! But life takes us on some amazing journeys.<\/strong><\/p>\n <\/strong><\/p>\n\u201cPeople can relate to my story because everyone is going through bad times. We all have fights, some less visible than others, but with a positive attitude, determination, and a smile these fights can be a little easier. Hopefully I will inspire others to show that others can get through their difficult times if I can recover after seven operations and move on. “<\/strong><\/p>\nVanessa spends her time sharing all elements of life, mostly related to motorcycles, and also does charity work by offering free workshops for British teenagers. She uses her recovery to engage young minds and talks about resilience, goal setting and dealing with the pressures of life. <\/p>\n

Vanessa attended the University of Portsmouth to study International Business Studies in 2005 and graduated in 2009. After a 10 year marketing career, she moved straight into the industry, transferring her detailed understanding of brand positioning, storytelling and marketing to build her own online brand, ‘The Girl on a Bike.’ With nearly a quarter of a million followers, Vanessa’s mission is to show that nothing is impossible when you work hard enough, even as an easily reconstructed person after the accident. <\/p>\n
Given that Motorcycle TV’s Peoples Awards received a record 100,000 votes, it’s clear to say that Vanessa is an inspiration to women and men alike.
