If someone tells me I have the greatest job in the world, I don’t argue with them. I get paid to ride a motorcycle and tell you how much fun I am having. However, having a garage full of motorbikes has its downsides – yes, that’s even more embarrassing than a 1st world problem. However, with 12 bikes in my garage, I need to keep an eye on the pressure in 24 tires. That means a lot of hauling around the air compressor, digging around for a CO2 cartridge inflator or, heaven forbid, a hand pump. The Fanttik X8 Apex tire inflator is an indispensable tool for anyone who has more than a few pairs of tires that require regular maintenance. It’s a very portable, battery-powered device that can do more than just provide a source of compressed air, and that’s why I love it.<\/p>\n When you switch on the Fanttik X8 Apex, a large, sharp LED shows you the battery level and two other numbers. The upper display serves as an air pressure gauge. The bottom number is selectable and that is what makes me so in love with the device.<\/p>\n You tell the pump what air pressure you want in the tire. Next, unscrew the valve which has a nice smooth effect. Then you press the power button again and the X8 Apex goes into action. It inflates the tire in question to the air pressure level you have selected. That means you can do something else for a few minutes, and you don’t have to keep pulling out an air pressure gauge to make sure you haven’t over-inflated the tire or find out how much more pressure the tire needs – all automatically. Yes it is great.<\/p>\n While I pressurize most of the time with the Fanttik X8 Apex motorcycle tire, it also worked great on my Toyota Tundra and Fiat 500e. It can also be used to fill up a sports ball or something similar. There are four modes – car, motorcycle, bike, and ball.<\/p>\n The 8-inch x 2.5-inch x 2.5-inch device houses a 29 Wh battery with 7800 mAh, so you can use the X8 Apex in other ways with Fanttik. There is a built-in flashlight at the top. It’s not exceptionally bright, but sits right next to the detachable connection hose and is therefore a great help when screwing on the valve in poor light conditions. There is a USB port so other batteries can be charged, including the one in your smartphone or tablet. The X8 Apex is charged via a USB Micro B connector, with which you can undoubtedly charge many other devices in your home – it couldn’t be more convenient. Finally, it can be charged in your truck or on your motorcycle if necessary.<\/p>\n The maximum pressure is 150 psi, which is more than enough for anything I inflate – even a road bike tire. I filled up four truck tires and four motorcycle tires and it barely left a dent in the battery level. The only downside to the Fanttik X8 Apex is that it is loud – like all air compressors. You won’t want to use this in your driveway before a 6am drive unless annoying your neighbors is on your to-do list.<\/p>\n Weighing in at 1 pound, 13 ounces – less than a quart of water – the X8 Apex is very portable. Adventure motorcyclists who alternate between dirt and asphalt on a ride will want to toss this into a bag. The only thing it doesn’t is automatically deflate a tire to the pressure you want – work on it, folks.
