On every trip, on any given day, I know which groceries, clothing, electronics, tools and utensils I would like to have easily accessible for me Ultimate motorcycling<\/em> Yamaha T\u00e9n\u00e9r\u00e9 700 Project Bike<\/a>. Not easily accessible like “have to stop and open my panniers” accessible but so accessible where I can get something while on the move or idle on the edge of a path. That is why tank bags were invented. The bill is the new SW-Motech<\/a> Pro Yukon WP 6.1-liter waterproof tank bag ($ 209) that attaches to a proprietary, reinforced, self-aligning quick release ring that lifts the bottom of the bag above the tank lid.<\/p>\n

The proprietary SW-Motech Pro tank ring mounting system is specific to each motorcycle tank design, and there is a tank ring mounting kit for almost every make and model. Some are attached directly to the gas filler neck; others, including the mounting ring for the Yamaha Tenere 700<\/a>, use a model-specific unit that is easy to install.<\/p>\n

The SW-Motech Pro Yukon WP tank bag has an EVA top and bottom that is seamlessly welded to a TPU body. While you don’t want to ride a steamroller over it, the Yukon is a very robust tank bag.<\/p>\n

An overarching waterproof, hinged, overlapping lid is secured by a magnetic lock and the magnetic lock has a glove-friendly flap that releases a second lid when it is lifted. The second lid has an 8 “long, clear plastic card section as part of a 6” by 8 “hexagonal zippered lid. The clear plastic is smartphone-friendly and allowed me to perform all functions except Face ID. I would be careful using my iPhone in this case on a hot day as it is not ventilated.<\/p>\n

Slide back the double, sealed zippers of the second lid to reveal the central storage space. To stow the cargo, the central storage space has six vertical elastic bands to secure your belongings to the edges and an attached semi-rigid sliding partition with a mesh pocket with zipper. The divider adjusts about three inches fore and aft if you change the size of the content you want to keep separate.<\/p>\n

The entire SW-Motech Pro Yukon WP unit is stiff enough that you can open the double zippers while driving. As this distracts your attention from driving, we do not recommend it. The overarching top has a SOFT<\/a> Essay off Hypalon<\/a> (a synthetic rubber) in case you have other MOLLE suitcases that you want to safely stack on top of your Pro Yukon WP tank bag.<\/p>\n

As an alternative to interlocking the MOLLE straps of your smartphone, tablet or accessory case on the top of the Pro Yukon WP tank bag, SW-Motech offers a T-Lock bracket for US $ 24 – a quick-release mechanism for the MOLLE accessories.<\/p>\n

The screwed fastening system and the Pro Yukon WP tank bag, like any accessory, are secure on the motorcycle. The Pro Yukon WP never moved when driving over rough terrain or flying on the highway in strong crosswinds.<\/p>\n

While sitting, it doesn’t block my view of the LCD display or make it difficult to reach the ignition key. The Yukon WP has an adjustable base that allows it to stand forward far enough to prevent my well-fed stomach from touching it while standing. The latches can go from lock to lock without interference, so he’s definitely out of the way.<\/p>\n

During fuel stops or if the motorcycle is left unattended, you can quickly unlock the Pro Yukon WP from its mount by pulling the red cord on the front of the mounting system. With a little practice, you can almost throw the Yukon against the tank ring and the magnet-assisted alignment system engages with an audible click.<\/p>\n

Over six liters offer plenty of waterproof space for the little extras that you want to take with you for quick access. Because I have panniers on the Ultimate motorcycling<\/em> Yamaha T\u00e9n\u00e9r\u00e9 700 Project Bike, with a gallon and a half of storage space, is everything I need for day trips or multi-day tours in front of me. If you need more space for your belongings, SW-Motech offers tank bags with up to 5.8 gallons of storage space.<\/p>\n
