The Yamaha T\u00e9n\u00e9r\u00e9 700 is a recognized motorcycle of great stature. I quickly fixed the discrepancy between my stride length and seat height by purchasing the Yamaha Parts & Accessories Dog Bone Links lowering kit. However, lowering the suspension significantly reduces the lean angle of the bike when it is placed on the side stand.<\/p>\n
Every time I put them on Ultimate motorcycling<\/em> Yamaha T\u00e9n\u00e9r\u00e9 700 Project Bike<\/a>, I didn’t have to lift it from the stand, because when my weight hit the seat, the bike was already moving upright. Any delay in bringing my right foot down results in an instant “Oh [expletive]! \u201d Moment when I pick up the bike from a highsider\u2014A<\/em> Editor Don Williams had the same experience. I dropped it on the high side once when I was slow to get my right leg all the way to the floor.<\/p>\n I think anyone who has experience customizing a new motorcycle recommends getting to know the motorcycle for the way it is before personalizing it. I knew I needed a shorter stand to increase the parked lean angle the first time I swung my leg over it.<\/p>\n I got in touch immediately Camel ADV products<\/a> to get a Camel Toe kickstand for the Yamaha T\u00e9n\u00e9r\u00e9 700 Project Bike. Camel ADV offers three versions of its Camel Toe Side Stand – lowered, one shorter than the stock stand; Standard length for a standard T\u00e9n\u00e9r\u00e9 700; and Extended for riders who have extended the travel of their T700. The three-quarter inch shorter recessed camel toe is exactly what I needed to get the right lean angle so I didn’t have to worry about just getting on the bike. I watched the Camel ADV step-by-step installation video to prepare for the job. The Camel ADV installation videos are very informative, and Cory tells you what to look for during the installation so you don’t find out the hard way. He takes time for close-ups and narration.<\/p>\n The stand arrived quickly – no supply chain issues – and I installed it straight away.<\/p>\n “Think about the direction of loosening before putting all your weight on the ratchet,” I remembered as I lay on my back reaching up and down. My first attempts to “loosen” the screws resulted in them tightening. I found out that I can be embarrassed without anyone watching.<\/p>\n Once I tapped in the right direction, the installation took about 30-45 minutes as predicted in the video. The new spring is much stronger than the OEM double spring to prevent the side stand from hitting the ground when driving over rough terrain. It takes a little grunt to get it. I set up the installation by leaning the bike against a four-story shelf and strapping it so it couldn’t roll forward or backward. There is enough space under the wheel for all the screwing work. I let go of the straps and leaned them back Ultimate motorcycling<\/em> Yamaha T\u00e9n\u00e9r\u00e9 700 Project Bike on its new stand. When I saw the new, lower angle of inclination, I breathed a sigh of relief. I wouldn’t have to worry about high siding during assembly.<\/p>\n I rolled the T\u00e9n\u00e9r\u00e9 700 onto my driveway and admired its new lean angle.
