The Japanese bicycle manufacturer exhibited at EICMA in.  a two-wheeled electrical concept <a class=\"injectedLinkmain\" href=\"https:\/\/www.autoblog.com\/mercury\/milan\/\" data-ylk=\"elm:context_link;itc:0;pos:1;sec:donut-hole;cpos:1;\">Milan<\/a> in 2019, but its specs seemed more suitable for a scooter or a moped.  The electric motor in this show bike continuously turned 13.5 hp and reached 27 hp.  A flood of patent applications over the past two years has put words into words <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=BBf3eHhfW3k\" data-ylk=\"elm:context_link;itc:0;pos:1;sec:donut-hole;cpos:2;\">Kawasaki&#8217;s intentions for a hybrid motorcycle<\/a> also, and it seems that <a class=\"injectedLinkmain\" href=\"https:\/\/www.autoblog.com\/hybrid\/\" data-ylk=\"elm:context_link;itc:0;pos:1;sec:donut-hole;cpos:3;\">hybrid<\/a> could receive compulsory admission. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.motorcycle.com\/patents\/kawasaki-is-developing-a-hybrid-motorcycle-with-an-electric-supercharger.html\" data-ylk=\"elm:context_link;itc:0;pos:1;sec:donut-hole;cpos:4;\"><em>Motorrad.com<\/em> just discovered<\/a> a patent for an electric compressor that would run down the electric portion of the powertrain.<\/p>\n<p>Some powertrains have been recorded in patents, so it&#8217;s hard to say what kind of end result or results Kawasaki has in mind.  the <a href=\"https:\/\/misfitmademotorcycles.com\/kawasaki-e-boost-electric-or-hybrid-motorcycle\/\" data-ylk=\"elm:context_link;itc:0;pos:1;sec:donut-hole;cpos:5;\">Electrical concept from 2019<\/a>, known as Endeavor, was inserted into a Ninja 300\/400-based tubular frame, whose electric motor was powered by a large, detachable <a class=\"injectedLinkmain\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.autoblotg.com\/tag\/battery\/\" data-ylk=\"elm:context_link;itc:0;pos:1;sec:donut-hole;cpos:6;\" rel=\"noopener\">battery<\/a>.  The engine was connected to a conventional motorcycle transmission with four instead of six gears.  The performance should compete with a 400 cc motorcycle, although the Ninja 300 makes a fraction below 40 hp and the Ninja 400 44 hp.<\/p>\n<p>Then came patents for <a class=\"injectedLinkmain\" href=\"https:\/\/www.autoblog.com\/tag\/plug-in+hybrid\/\" data-ylk=\"elm:context_link;itc:0;pos:1;sec:donut-hole;cpos:7;\">Plug-in hybrid<\/a> Bicycles at the end of 2020 <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bennetts.co.uk\/bikesocial\/news-and-views\/news\/2020\/october\/kawasaki-hybrid-torque-bike-design-patent\" data-ylk=\"elm:context_link;itc:0;pos:1;sec:donut-hole;cpos:8;\">with four performance modes<\/a>, a small electric motor that gives the ICE more power or drives the bike on its own.  These patents also included descriptions of driving modes such as &#8220;a <a class=\"injectedLinkmain\" href=\"https:\/\/www.autoblog.com\/tag\/fuel+economy\/\" data-ylk=\"elm:context_link;itc:0;pos:1;sec:donut-hole;cpos:9;\">Fuel consumption<\/a> Mode and a sporty travel mode, &#8220;and included drawings of a&#8221; boost &#8220;button that&#8221; would change the torque output characteristic to increase the output torque of the hybrid propulsion source. &#8220;Bike took advantage of it. The company applied for it in May this year <a href=\"https:\/\/www.visordown.com\/news\/new-bikes\/kawasaki-files-trademark-e-boost-future-motorcycle-model\" data-ylk=\"elm:context_link;itc:0;pos:1;sec:donut-hole;cpos:10;\">patent the term &#8220;E-Boost&#8221;<\/a> in <a class=\"injectedLinkmain\" href=\"https:\/\/www.autoblog.com\/tag\/japan\/\" data-ylk=\"elm:context_link;itc:0;pos:1;sec:donut-hole;cpos:11;\">Japan<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>The company already has four models with compressor that <a class=\"injectedLinkmain\" href=\"https:\/\/www.autoblog.com\/hummer\/h2\/\" data-ylk=\"elm:context_link;itc:0;pos:1;sec:donut-hole;cpos:12;\">H2<\/a>, H2R, H2 SX and Z H2, which each lead a chain-driven screw from the crankshaft of the engine.  The patent drawings show that the electric motor is still able to operate the bike on its own or as a real hybrid to support the combustion engine in HEV mode and to drive the compressor in normal mode when the ICE is the prime mover.  Engineers appear to have programmed two-stage compressor activation;  the electric motor rotates at around 5,500 rpm in order to &#8220;weakly charge&#8221; the combustion engine with light throttle grips, while it is still connected to the input shaft via a clutch.  At full throttle, the clutch separates the electric motor from the input shaft and the electric motor runs over 6,000 rpm up to 15,000 rpm in order to send all its power to the compressor.  It is now believed that E-Boost is intended for this full power supercharger condition rather than being applied to the output of the electronic part of the powertrain.<\/p>\n<p>All we really know now is what Kawasaki Motorcycle President Hiroshi Ito told us that we will &#8220;in the near future&#8221; &#8220;have innovative new street bikes, our new electric, and hybrid.&#8221; <a class=\"injectedLinkmain\" href=\"https:\/\/www.autoblog.com\/category\/hydrogen\/\" data-ylk=\"elm:context_link;itc:0;pos:1;sec:donut-hole;cpos:13;\">hydrogen<\/a> Power source projects and off-road motorcycles. &#8220;<\/p>\n<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Kawasaki is working on an electric motorcycle for at least a decade.
