Ask an experienced world traveler their choice of bike for riding around the world, and they’ll probably tell you that a simple single-cylinder thumper is the gold standard. Press them for more details and you’ll get the alphabet in return, with names like DRZ and KLR being thrown into the mix.<\/p>\n

These are bikes that have earned cult-like status by offering tremendous value, reliable performance, and the on\/off road ability to tackle anything in their path. But now there’s a new challenger on the horizon.<\/p>\n

Introducing the Voge 650 DSX, a brand-new single-cylinder adventure bike that comes in at a very reasonable price indeed. So, what’s it all about?<\/p>\n

Introducing the Voge 650 DSX<\/h2>\n

\"Voge<\/p>\n

Built by fledgling manufacturer Voge, a subsidiary of Chinese manufacturer Loncin, that was established in 2018, the 650 DSX is designed to be capable both on and off the road. And, on first impressions, it certainly looks the part.<\/p>\n

Those aggressive looks are complemented by knobbly Pirelli Scorpion Rally tires, engine bars, an aluminum bash plate, and optional aluminum luggage. Those tires will help the DSX find traction in the rough stuff, while the other features will protect the bike in the event of any drops or falls.<\/p>\n

Beneath the fairing lies a single-cylinder, liquid-cooled, 652cc engine, which produces an A2-licence compliant 47bhp and 60Nm of torque at 5,500rpm. And the 650 DSX is chain driven for easy, accessible maintenance on the trail or road.<\/p>\n

Touring range is provided by an impressive 18l fuel tank, which should combine with what we expect to be a frugal single-cylinder engine to achieve plenty of distance between fill-ups.<\/p>\n

Big name parts<\/h2>\n

Now, while Voge is a Chinese brand, a fact that will raise eyebrows I’m sure, the 650 DSX boasts an impressive, and confidence-inspiring, array of tech from big names.<\/p>\n

The braking system comes from Nissin, with dual 298mm floating discs at the front and a single 240mm disc at the rear, as well as switchable ABS for off-roading. Suspension comes from KYB, with 41mm inverted shocks at the front and a monoshock at the rear.<\/p>\n

There’s also a TFT display with tire pressure monitoring, an impressive inclusion considering many top manufacturers only offer it as an optional extra, as well as an adjustable touring screen, USB charging port, LED lights, and a top box rack, all included as standard . A full set of aluminum panniers is available as an optional extra.<\/p>\n

The entire ensemble weighs in at 219kg wet which is on the heavier side compared to other mid-weight bikes like the Yamaha T\u00e9n\u00e9r\u00e9 700 (205kg), although the relatively low seat height of 830mm should make that easy to paddle around ferry terminal car parks.<\/p>\n

Finally, there’s the price. the Voge 650 DSX<\/a> is available to buy today with prices starting at just \u00a36,399. That’s seriously low for a bike that offers plenty if kit as standard, including components from well respected names in the motorcycle industry.<\/p>\n

We can’t judge performance and build quality until we ride the bike, but on paper at least, it’s got a lot going for it.<\/p>\n
