I’m a full-time driver type. Sometimes it’s just 200 miles for the whole day, and some crazy days it’s 1027 miles. In order to ride all day, I try to minimize minor distractions that sap my energy. Small annoyances like noise and bumps can add up throughout the day, so I do my best to eliminate them from my rides. Riding with an extremely well ventilated adventure helmet on the Ultimate motorcycling<\/em> Yamaha T\u00e9n\u00e9r\u00e9 700 project bike<\/a>, the turbulent air my helmet sits in creates continuous wind noise at highway speeds. I don’t experience eye-jarring buffeting, but I do feel bumps from side to side from time to time.<\/p>\n I’m 36 inches from seat to crown without a helmet. In this case, neither height nor inseam are relevant measurements. If your torso is larger or smaller than mine, your experience will vary. That said, you probably have other airflow issues, which is why I chose the Touratech Pro Windshield Adjuster Bracket to fix mine.<\/p>\n The Touratech Pro Windshield Adjuster Bracket allows vertical fine-tuning of the windshield height of the factory T\u00e9n\u00e9r\u00e9 700 over a range from half an inch to 2.4 inches higher than the stock setting.<\/p>\n I didn’t want to be dependent on a larger windshield because I drive under 80 km\/h most of the time. A clip-on height extender was off my list because I would need to keep it driving off-road<\/a> through bushes, low branches and the unexpected nap on the bike. The solution I was looking for was to simply adjust the height of the stock windshield Touratech<\/a> gets it done for $160 and 15 minutes of install time.<\/p>\n Their installation takes 15 minutes; mine lasted 45. I was dropping pieces trying to line up all four mounts at once. That led to a ground hunt for bouncing pieces. Then I lost a screw and searched for 15 minutes until I found it hidden in the wiring behind the windshield – the last place I wanted to check. After learning the correct installation, final assembly took only a few minutes.<\/p>\n Unscrew the windshield and use the same screws to attach the adjustment bracket. Next, use the included screws, washers, and spacers to mount the windshield to the adjustment bracket.<\/p>\n There is a trick to working with the elastic (stretchy) nuts. They are already installed in the holder. Without the windshield, fully tighten each of the four elastic nuts, and then remove the bolt. This process stretches the elastic nuts to hold when fastening the windshield.<\/p>\n Next, starting at the top right or top left, line up the bolt, plastic washer, windshield, and spacer, and align with the elastic nut. The screw does not reach the thread in the elastic nut. Using your thumb or forefinger, firmly push the back of the elastic nut forward and forcefully push your T25 star bit from the front, then the threads will catch.<\/p>\n Screw each screw in just enough to catch the threads. That gives you the necessary screen flex to install the other three screws and standoffs. Tighten them all and you have an adjustable stock windshield.<\/p>\n According to Touratech, the height adjustment is a one-hand operation. However, I can only lower the windshield of the T\u00e9n\u00e9r\u00e9 with one hand, not raise it. It takes me two hands to lift it to any of the seven positions with the Touratech Pro windshield adjuster bracket installed.<\/p>\n<\/a><\/p>\n<\/a><\/p>\n<\/a><\/p>\n<\/a><\/p>\n
