What are the Council Police priorities in your part of West Leeds?

The Leeds West Neighborhood Police team is trying to tackle issues such as speeding and anti-social behavior in our communities.

One of 47 NPTs, made up of inspectors, sergeants, constables and police officers in support of the community, the NPT each year identifies community issues for its officers to address.

NPTs aim to be visible and accessible to local communities. Teams work closely with communities in defined geographic areas and in partnership to address the issues that matter most to local people.

Here is a list of issues for each of the five boroughs that make up West Leeds:

Armley Ward

1. Take action against anti-social behavior and street drinking on Town Street. Increase visible police patrols and work to strengthen anti-social behavior legislation. Police are working with street outreach and addiction services to support change. Police will also work with youth services to support change and diversionary activities with youth.
2. To deal with the ongoing street level drug trade. Police strive to develop community-based intelligence to deter and stop crime. People can call 101 or Crime Stoppers on 0800 555 111 or crimestoppers-uk.org.
3. Promoting road safety by combating anti-social use of cars and motorcycles in the region by implementing road safety measures.

Bramley & Stanningley

1. To combat anti-social vehicle use, speeding and reckless parking in and around identified hotspot areas in Bramley. Wherever possible, positive action will be taken and high visibility officers will be deployed for driving violations.
2. Disrupting and engaging with harassing youth at the Bramley Shopping Centre, particularly using the Drug Abuse and Antisocial Behavior Acts. Officers will regularly conduct high-visibility patrols of the area and, where possible, work alongside participants, using a multi-agency approach to deter crime and perpetrators.
3. Dealing with the use of off road bikes and quads being ridden in the Bramley area. Whenever possible, relevant legislation is used to remove bicycles from the road. Affirmative action will be taken against repeat offenders by applying Section 59 legislation and/or prosecuting traffic offences.

Kirkstall

1. Combating theft of motor vehicles, including motorcycles, and related burglaries in the area by proactively targeting criminals and conducting high-visibility patrols in the area. This is aided by the provision of education to residents, thereby limiting offenders’ opportunities to commit the offences.
2. Reducing and preventing anti-social use of motorcycles and related crime. NPT are working with partners to reduce access to land and trails. In addition, the police will conduct operations and take action against repeat offenders by using road traffic laws and seizures.
3. To combat anti-social behavior at Kirkstall Shopping Centre. High visibility patrols will be conducted and communications with shops will be improved and police will use their powers to actively prevent repeat offenders from visiting the area.

Pudsey

1. Disturbing and engaging with disruptive youth in the city center. Officers have included problem areas in their patrol schedules and repeat offenders will be dealt with severely, ensuring additional police powers are used to prevent and discourage individuals from revisiting the area.
2. Addressing residential burglaries through targeted burglary prevention, high-visibility patrols in designated areas, and advising local residents on crime prevention.
3. Tackling anti-social vehicle use and speeding in and around identified hotspot areas in the Pudsey area.

Farnley and Wortley

1. Anti-social behavior in the Whincovers/Butterbowl area, including high visibility patrols and the use of additional police powers to discourage this behavior.
2. Antisocial behavior and drug dealing on the heights. Police will continue to target individual offenders and will encourage the public to report information.
3. Speeding on Whitehall Road and parking problems when Leeds United play at home Conduct visible operations to deter and investigate criminals.

Calverley and Farsley

1. Targeting the use of anti-social off-road motorcycles and quads in Calverley and Ravenscliffe Woods by working with Bradford East NPT, Operation Steerside & Leeds Off Road Bike Team.
2. Attacking speeding and antisocial motorists on Bradford Road from Dawson’s Corner to Thornbury Roundabout by conducting high visibility patrols and using a ProLaser to detect and deter offenders.
3. Combating home burglaries by conducting high-visibility patrols, targeting and disrupting known criminals, and providing residents with crime prevention advice.
