The police on off-road motorcycles warned anti-social bikers when they set out on a day of targeted patrols.
Officers from the force’s off-road bike team visited the Broxtowe area Thursday in response to local concerns about noisy and potentially dangerous riders.
Team members, accomplished motorcyclists who volunteer for this role in addition to their daily chores, visited the Beeston Rylands Area, Attenborough Nature Reserve, Greenwood Community Center, The Sidings at Toton and Stapleford, Bramcote Woods and Toton Tram.
PCSO Paula Hipkiss of Broxtowe Neighborhood Policing Team said, “We became aware of recent incidents involving people riding off-road bikes in a dangerous and unsocial manner.
“The purpose of this exercise was to reassure local residents that we were taking this issue seriously and that we would be able to take direct action when passengers commit crimes.
“Although we had no reason to stop and confiscate bicycles that day, we had conversations with many locals whom we hope will be reassured by our presence.
“They are our eyes and ears in our community and we want to hear from them as soon as possible when people ride unsocially or illegally. We will react and have the capacity to take decisive action. “
