Police will crack down on off-road motorcycles in Geelong and the southwest after a string of accidents that left numerous drivers dead or injured.There have been 180 off-road crashes in southwest Victoria since early 2021, 21 more than at the same time in 2020.
According to the police, inexperience was a factor for many.
The Surf Coast and Otways have been identified as high risk areas.
The warning comes five weeks after the death of a Wyndham teenager in a dirt bike accident east of Stawell.
The 18-year-old from Tarneit was killed when the machine she was riding on crashed into a tree in Illawarra on November 1st.
Police say riders can reduce the risk by making sure their bikes are serviced, wearing proper safety gear and always riding with a buddy.
