Fixed dirt bike racks are great, except for one thing – you have to lift the bike on them. For some people that’s not a problem; it’s a deal breaker for others. Regardless, at the end of a busy day of driving, lifting a 250-pound motorcycle in the air and swinging it around isn’t something I look forward to. Instead, I rely on them Fly racing Use the kickstand to lift a dirt bike off the ground.
The Fly Racing Lift Stand is a simple but effective piece of equipment with an MSRP of $ 75. It uses your body weight to lift the motorcycle on a lever instead of relying on your upper body strength. You simply slide the stand under the platform, press your foot on the lift lever – pretty tough for bikes near the top of its 330-pound weight limit – and your mount is sent skyward.
The stand rises 10 cm from rest. The height of the platform at rest is adjustable from 10 to 14 inches above the ground. This area allows you to slide the kickstand under smaller trail bikes with relatively little ground clearance, as well as full-size dirt bikes.
Lifting the motorcycle in the air simplifies tire and chain maintenance. If the wheels are in mid-air, you can remove one or both to change tires or tubes. Measuring chain slack, adjusting chain tension, cleaning and lubricating is much easier when you can easily turn the rear wheel. Fly Racing Lift Stand is great for swimming as you can spin the wheels to make sure the tires are pristine.
The H-shaped base is sturdy enough for general maintenance. There’s no way to lock the platform so the bike won’t sit rock solid. The rubber mat on the platform prevents the bike from slipping.
To put the wheels back on solid ground, simply lift the foot pedal and the cushioned platform lowers slowly and gently.
I’ve been using the Fly Racing Lift Stand for almost five years, in my garage and in the field. It has always worked flawlessly and remains in excellent condition even after extensive use with a large number of dirt bikes.
