Buffalo Days celebration includes numerous activities in Luverne this weekend – The Globe

LUVERNE — It’s the start of the summer, which means Luverne’s annual Buffalo Days celebration is back for its 38th year, with events planned Friday through Sunday.

The celebration kicks off Friday at 6 pm with a Cruise-In on Luverne’s Main Street. Corral parking will be available for more than 300 cars, trucks, antique tractors, off-road, motorcycles and other vehicles, with free registration. Music by the band Starfire will also be featured starting at 6:30 pm The beer garden and food will be available for purchase until 10:30 that evening.

For those looking to add a little more magic to their Buffalo Days, the Luverne High School Theater Department will present the fairytale musical “Beauty and the Beast” at 7 pm Thursday through Saturday, and again on June 9-11. Tickets are available at the door.

Other weekend events include:

  • Sanford Buffalo Days Fun Run at Luverne City Park on Saturday. Registration begins at 7 am
  • 4-H Waffle Feed at the Masonic Temple from 7:30 to 10 am, Saturday.
  • Sno-Masters membership drive and side by side/ATC Poker Run at 9 am Saturday
  • Buffalo Days Expo vendor show at the Rock County Courthouse Square from 9 am to 4 pm Saturday
  • Ninja Anywhere Interactive Inflatables at the Courthouse Square from 11 am to 3 pm Saturday
  • Parade on Main Street at 10 am Saturday
  • Quilt Show at the Hinkly House from 11 am to 4 pm
  • Block Party at Take 16 Brewing Company, Friday from 5 to 10 pm Live music from Beautiful Kingdom will be featured.
  • Tales from the Graves Ice Cream & Pie Social at Maplewood Cemetery, fundraiser for the Rock County Historical Society from 1 to 4 pm Sunday

Throughout the weekend, The Luverne Baseball Tournament will feature 9U through 14U and Jr. Legion games on Joe Roberts Field, the Prairie View Complex, and Redbird Field. The games are sponsored by the Luverne Baseball Association.
