CAKE Kalk & is the street-legal brother of its off-road predecessor Kalk OR. Although both motorcycles may look similar on the outside, the Kalk & has a few further developments on the inside. It is one of the first Light Electric vehicles Off-road motorcycles category. Every single machine component is developed from a blank sheet of paper to support the desired quality and durability. Its focus on off- and on-trail riding offers a smooth gliding experience. The bike is heavily influenced by downhill and Enduro mountain bikes, both in terms of feel and handling. CAKE took motorcycle Driving with an electric powertrain development to a whole new level.
As the street-legal brother of its predecessor, the Kalk OR, the Kalk & looks the same on the outside, but has significant further developments on the inside. In the absence of a reference, every single component was made from scratch, making the bike one of the first of its kind.
Different driving modes for a varied experience
The high speed and the progressive range of the electric motor leave only accelerating and braking in the driver’s hands. The lime & comes with three main rude modes. The first mode is called the exploration mode which is the ultimate mode while exploring. Excite mode has a travel time of approximately 2 hours and a top speed of 44 mph. The last mode is the Excel mode which offers maximum speed and maximum torque. There are no performance restrictions in this mode. It’s perfect when you need all of the power available. It gives a driving time of one hour.
Cake also offers three braking modes. The freewheel braking mode has no engine brakes. There is the same feeling as cycle. It’s perfect for smooth driving and the ultimate experience of freedom. The 2-stroke engine brake with energy recovery is a moderate engine brake. When you let go of the throttle you can feel the bike slowly slowing down. The 4-stroke engine brake with energy recovery brakes the motorcycle significantly when the throttle is released. This braking mode is best suited for technical routes where complete control of the vehicle is required.
The increased performance
Weighing 137 lbs without battery and 174 lbs with battery, the Kalk & a unique motorcycle with upscale functions. The upside-down fork suspension is air / oil-sprung and has 38 mm stanchions for additional rigidity and strength. There is a suspension travel of 204 mm, which Öhlins has specially developed. The forks are adjustable for high-speed compression, low-speed compression and low-speed rebound and are equipped with advanced 3-stage air springs from Öhlins. There is a 205 mm Öhlins TTX22 rear suspension with Cake internals and a specific spring. The bike is equipped with a 25-degree fork angle, 1,310 mm wheelbase, 900 mm seat height, 300 mm ground clearance and four-piston stainless steel disc brakes.
Cake offers a 18650 lithium-ion battery that reaches 0 to 100% in 2.5 to 3 hours on a standard socket. The display has a speedometer, odometer, trip meter, battery status and a power consumption indicator. There is an extruded, forged, machined, and painted 6061 aluminum frame with an aerospace grade 7050 aluminum handlebar that is 800mm wide and has a 20mm rise. Cake also offers an aerospace grade 7075 aluminum stem and an SKF headset with tapered stainless steel bearings. Kaalk & comes with painted polycarbonate fenders and a body with SKF bearings.
It’s a direct drive motorcycle with an electric internal permanent magnet motor with an output of 10 kW. The bike is equipped with a torque of 42 Nm on the shaft and a torque of 252 Nm on the wheel. It has a rubberized front sprocket and a 72-tooth rear sprocket with a 420 O-ring chain.
The price tag of lime &
The suggested price of cake for a lime is $ 14,000. Since the company has designed every motorcycle component from the ground up, pricing doesn’t seem to be an issue. Before comparing it with other available models, consider the effort in terms of design and performance. It is unique and the first vehicle in the category of light electric off-road motorcycles. It is completely street legal and offers a mode for commuting purposes. The pricing is based on all of these factors.
The Cake Kalk & is unique in the new category of light electric off-road motorcycles and is built from scratch. There are no references for any of the components required to achieve the desired result. It’s light and has multiple driving modes and braking functions. In contrast to its predecessor, the Kalk OR, it is absolutely street legal.
