The Giant Loop Possibles Pouch has many uses including transporting cargo such as first aid kit, electronics, food, tire repair kit holder and so on. It can be used as a tail bag or attached to others Giant Loop luggage. I use it to keep my road repair tool kit on top of that Ultimate motorcycling Yamaha Ténéré 700 Project Bike.
If I had always driven with panniers, I could keep my road tools in them. However, I usually ride without my panniers when I am Ride single trails and 4 × 4 routes, because I don’t want to be hindered by the weight and width of the panniers. This is why I chose the Giant Loop Possibles Pouch ($ 50 MSRP) to hold my emergency repair tools.
The Possibles Pouch is made of fully waterproof 500D PVC tarpaulin material. It measures 10.5 x 5.5 x 3.0 inches and the roll-top closure bag holds 3.5 liters of luggage. For me, that’s a complete set of tools within reach and out of the elements.
At first I only mounted it to the engine guard with its webbing straps and snap buckles. A few trips later, I added tire irons and a hand pump to the Possibles Pouch. I then added Giant Loop’s 25-inch pronghorn strap ($ 23 / pair) and fastened it around the Possibles Pouch to carry a utility lashing strap. The unique design of the stretch polyurethane pronghorn straps keeps the metal buckle away from painted surfaces and stays in place when the bike bounces off-road.
I’ve ridden over 1,300 miles with the Possibles Pouch attached to the Yamaha Parts & Accessories Engine Guard, 350 of them off-road. After riding in the rain, dust and hosing down the bike, the contents have stayed clean and dry.
Neither of us want to break down on the road or trail, but it happens. I think I pulled out my tools a lot more often for others than for myself. But for me, that’s part of the driving experience. When driving in unpopulated areas you have to be self-sufficient and support yourself, which is why I am wearing what I think is an appropriate mix of tools that fully expands the Giant Loop Possibles Pouch.
Some say I have too many tools with me, but how many are too many when you actually use those tools to get yourself or someone else out of the jam? The Possibles Pouch has enough space, secures firmly, and is durable, so I’ll go for it.
Although I installed it on the Ultimate motorcycling Yamaha Ténéré 700 Project Bike, the Giant Loop Possible Pouch, like most of the company’s soft bags, fits a wide variety of motorcycles.
