“He would have been proud”: bikers roar into town as hundreds gather for Marcus Joyce’s funeral

Hundreds of heartbroken friends from a Huddersfield Biker went into effect today (Wednesday) at his memorial service, spinning their bikes in front of the church on Somerset Road, Aspley.

Marcus Joyce, 23He lived for bicycles, his work and his family, but unfortunately lost his life in a car crash on the evening of September 21st.

He was fatally injured when a Volkswagen Tiguan collided with the Suzuki all-terrain motorcycle he was driving.

The accident occurred on Blackmoorfoot Road, Huddersfield, near the intersection with Andrew Crescent.

West Yorkshire Police said the driver of the Tiguan, a 28-year-old man, was arrested on suspicion of dangerous driving resulting in death.

The smell of gasoline and the roar of motorbikes could be heard all over Somerset Road as bikers from all over the country sped into town and did some wheelies in front of the church while police officers kept a discreet eye on things going on and traffic.

Marcus has been crazy about bikes since he was two, according to older sister Katie Joyce, 28.

After the service Rev. John Carlisle held in a crowded St. Joseph Catholic Church, she said, “It was a fantastic turnout, he wouldn’t have wanted it any other way. He would have been very proud.

“I had this warm, beautiful feeling and felt the love of everyone.”

Marcus worked for Marcel at Bubbles Car Wash at the Esso gas station, New Hey Road, from an early age. Oak trees.

A passionate biker, he disappeared with friends to Manchester or Coventry or wherever his ghost led him.

But he was equally passionate about his family and regularly looked after Katie’s children when she needed him.

Katie herself suffered heartbreak in 2018 when she four-year-old son Enzo dies on November 15, within hours of meningitis, although hardly any symptoms.
