At Edinburgh one has been charged in relation to the theft of motorbikes from the Leith area of the city and several road traffic offenses.
Police in the capital confirmed on SaturdayJune 25 that a 21-year-old male had now been arrested in relation to two motorcycle thefts and a number of road traffic offenses.
The individual will appear at Edinburgh Sheriff Court on Monday 27 June following the arrest with city cops putting the charge down to the success of their ‘Operation Orbit.’

The special task force was the divisions response to the community concern over anti social behavior across the capital involving motorbikes.
Edinburgh police shared news of the arrest following a series of incidents across the city writing: “On Friday 24 June 2022 a 21-year-old man was charged in relation to the theft of two motorbikes from the Leith area of Edinburgh as well as several road traffic offenses.
“He will appear at Edinburgh Sheriff Court on Monday 27 June 2022.
“Operation Soteria is our divisional response to significant community concerns linked to the theft and antisocial use of motorcycles across the city.”
Earlier in the month after several reports of dangerous road traffic offenses involving masked individuals running riot across the city, Police Scotland confirmed to Edinburgh Live that they were investigating and had the special task force in place to deal with the behaviour.
Superintendent Sam Ainslie had told Edinburgh Live : “We have received a number of reports relating to the anti-social and reckless use of off-road motorcycles across the city.”
“This behavior will not be tolerated, and working with partners, including Road Policing colleagues, we have co-ordinated plans in place to proactively prevent and address these concerns, including deploying Edinburgh Division’s very own Operation Orbit officers.
“Trained in the use of off-road motorbikes bikes, these officers have and will continue to patrol hot-spot areas to identify offenders, prevent and deter further incidents and provide community reassurance.”

He then added: “Road safety is one of Edinburgh Division’s top priorities, and notwithstanding the risk these reckless individuals pose to their own safety, their behaviors cause significant risk to pedestrians and other road users, and I wish to reassure the public that offenders will be dealt with robustly.
“To allow us to target our patrols effectively, I would encourage communities to report incidents via 101, and should anyone have information as to the identity of those placing communities at risk, this can be provided anonymously via Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.”
