Exploring Missouri is easy, and most of us have been on our fair share of scenic hikes. We’ve also spent lazy summer days floating down nearby rivers, dangling our legs into the water and enjoying the scenery as it passes by. If you’re a fan of trails other floating, you’ll find several picturesque water trails dotted throughout the state. Head to Finger Lakes State Park, for example, for a paddle down this beautiful water trail in Missouri.

Adventurers will find no better place – any time of the year – than Finger Lakes State Park in Columbia, which offers a full menu of activities.
From hiking and mountain biking to ORV riding (ATVs and off-road motorcycles) and swimming, the state park offers something for adventurers of all ages and interests.

If you’re a fan of the water, rent a kayak or a canoe (or bring your own) for a paddle along the Finger Lakes State Park Water Trail.
Tallying 4.3 miles total, the water trail is split into two sections. The north section spans 2.2 miles with the south section measuring 2.3 miles.
Paddle just a section of the water trail on Peabody Pond, or follow the entire trail. The two sections are connected by a .40-mile “connector.” You’ll know you’re on the right path by following the buoys.

Red buoys signify the south section while blue buoys let you know you’re in the north section.

The trail is rated easy, and Missouri State Parks recommends carving out at least 2.25 hours for the journey.
Paddle past gorgeous, lush green during the spring and in the summer. Don’t forget your camera, sunscreen, and water for your trek.
