Kawasaki has announced an all new line of oils for its motorcycles, ATVs, UTVs and jet ski personal watercraft. The formulations for motorcycles are completely new and aimed at the best possible protection of Kawasaki engines. ATV, UTV and Jet Ski oil lines have been updated to exceed JASO and API standards. Here is a brief overview of the new Kawasaki Performance Oils for motorcycles:
KPO Fully synthetic 4-stroke oil
This oil is designed for the most demanding applications, including rev jumps, brutal heat and freezing cold. According to a Kawasaki insider, the fully synthetic 4-stroke oil features “double friction technology.” This means low friction in the engine while meeting the JASO MA2 requirement for clutch friction threefold. Kawasaki also claims excellent clutch feel and improved clutch durability.
KPO semi-synthetic 4-stroke oil
This blend of synthetic and petroleum-based lubricants is suitable for everyday use. Kawasaki tells us that the semi-synthetic offers “optimal engine lubrication over a wide range of temperatures and operating conditions, superior engine and bearing wear protection, and extended engine life through engine cleanliness and reduced oil volatility.”
KPO Conventional 4-stroke oil
If you’re looking to save some money, KPO will blend Conventional Additive into a quality base oil. The conventional oil is designed to keep the engine clean and prevent piston rings from getting stuck in the cylinder. Reducing camshaft wear is also a focus of this oil. It is available in 10W-30, 10W-40 and 20W-50 strengths.
KPO semi-synthetic 2-stroke oil
If you don’t drive off-road, you can forget about it Kawasaki still produces motorcycles with two-stroke engines. KPO semi-synthetic 2-stroke oil works in oil injection systems or can be blended directly into gasoline. Kawasaki developed the oil to keep the engine clean, fight corrosion and reduce hot spots. Ashless cleaners are used to extend engine life under demanding racing conditions.
KPO ATV/UTV Oil 4-Stroke Oil is also available in fully synthetic and semi-synthetic formulas. Kawasaki personal watercraft receive KPO Jet Ski Watercraft Oil. There is a fully synthetic oil for four-stroke jet skis and one for jet skis with two-stroke engines.
Kawasaki Dealers will begin stocking the new Kawasaki Performance Oils in April.
