2022 Ducati Multistrada V2 Lineup first look (9 quick facts + 45 photos)
The great rebranding at Ducati continues with the Ducati Multistrada 950 being updated and transformed into the 2022 Ducati Multistrada V2. The ergonomics and engine of the midsize adventure touring motorcycle were taken into account by the Bologna engineers, so let’s go through the changes.
- There are two versions of the 2022 Ducati Multistrada V2. There is still a standard version with an “S” model, which includes extras such as semi-active electronic suspension, a quickshifter, a TFT dash, cruise control and curve-dependent LED headlights.
- The new Multistrada V2 is 11 pounds lighter than its predecessor. Four of those pounds are cut by the Testastretta 11 ° engine, and another 3.7 pounds were lost due to new wheels sourced from the Multistrada V4. A new eight-plate hydraulic clutch accounts for most of the engine’s weight savings – 3.3 pounds of that – with the clutch cover, gear drum, and connecting rods accounting for the remainder of the loss. According to Ducati, the new gear drum also makes shifting smoother. The mirrors of the Multistrada V4 also look great and save a bit of weight.
- The seat height has been lowered to 32.7 inches. In addition, the front of the new, flatter seat is narrower to make it easier to reach the floor. An accessory high seat increases the seat height for the long-legged crowd to 33.5 inches, while the accessory low seat lowers the seat height to 31.9 inches. For the riders with the shortest stride length, a low suspension kit lowers everything by another 0.8 inches.
- The footpegs of the 2022 Ducati Multistrada V2 were taken over from the Multistrada V4. The footpegs are 0.4 inches lower for improved long-distance comfort.
- The standard Multistrada V2 also has an impressive electronics package. Both Multistrada V2s have four customizable riding modes, curve-controlled ABS, Hill-Hold-Control and the new Ducati Brake Light System. The DBL causes the rear brake light to flash when the brakes are fully applied. The standard V2 has an LCD dash instead of the TFT display of the V2 S.
- Although Ducati calls the new Multistrada the V2, the datasheet describes the engine as an L-Twin. We suspect there may have been some heated discussions about this.
- If you choose the V2 S, you have the option of adding the travel equipment. This is a package with side pockets, heated handles and a center stand.
- Both the standard Multistrada V2 and the S are available in Ducati Red. Street Gray is reserved for the S version only.
- We expect both versions of the 2022 Ducati Multistrada V2 to be seen at dealerships by December. The standard Multistrada V2 will be priced at $ 15,295, and you’ll pay a premium of $ 2,600 for the S model.
